We love kids, and we love to garden. On that . . . excuse the expression . . . common ground, we've organized www.KidsGardenClub.org. It's for growing sprouts, and the ones who love to teach them with the endless lessons of a garden!

If you subscribe, you will receive one youth gardening lesson plan per week via email. Of course, you can come to this website any time and get other ideas. Whatever it takes to get kids gardening, we're all for! And it's all free.

The purpose is to serve the organizers of youth gardens associated with schools, after-school programs, youth-serving organizations, neighborhood associations, churches, ministries, community gardens . . . anywhere there are children and youth interested in gardening, and at least one gardener willing to lead.

Many of the lesson plans on this website are about nature, science and the environment. They suggest ways to use plants as a theme for creative enrichment in reading, writing, arithmetic and other school subjects. It's "complementary education" at its finest - hands-on learning that's good for you and a whole lot of fun.

You can join in by subscribing, and receive one lesson plan per week by email.

This is one of those rare organizations that is set up only to serve you. There are no membership fees, no meetings, nothing to do . . . other than to use this information to help you make your students' gardening experience the best it can be. And one way to do that is to network with other kids' garden clubs through this site.

You can come to the website any time to peruse the lesson plans and other information that's posted on there. We'd love to receive articles and photos from you for the Kids' Blog! So bookmark us, and tell your friends! Send us garden-related lesson ideas, money-saving ideas, photos, tips and funny stories.

Happy gardening!
